The Adept AU Meme

Ages ago, or so the stories tell, the power of Alchemy ruled over the world of
Weyard. 
Alchemy wrought the base elements of humanity into thriving civil-
izations, like lead into gold. But in time, man's dreams gave birth to untold
strife. 
Dreams of endless riches, of eternal life, of dominion over all that
lived... Dreams of conquest and of war. 
These dreams would have torn the world apart if not for a few brave and wise men, who sealed away the power of Alchemy
deep in Mt. Aleph's Sol Sanctum.

This is an AU Meme for the Golden Sun series! Based on the fictional world of Weyard, Golden Sun is a traditional JRPG series that focuses on people called Adepts with powers called Psynergy. Adepts can be sorted into four distinct types:

Mercury Adepts have control over water. Using Mercury psynergy, it's possible to both create and freeze water. Mercury also specializes in healing.
Mars Adepts have control over fire. Using Mars psynergy, it's possible to create and control small flames. Mars has healing powers as well, although they're considerably weaker than those of Mercury.
Venus Adepts have control over earth. Using Venus psynergy, one can hasten growth and have control over plants, as well as move objects without touching them.
Jupiter Adpets have control over wind. Using Jupiter psynergy, it's possible to create large gales, strong bursts of lightning, and read the minds of others. Experienced Jupiter adepts are also known to have future-seeing abilities.

How to play:
1. Comment with your character, listing their name, canon, adept type, etc, along with any preferences.
2. Tag around, using the RNG if you'd like!
3. Thread the things!

Options:
Time Period:
Pre-BS/TLA Era: Maybe you'd like a scenario around the time the lighthouses were first sealed? Or, a scenario twenty years prior to the first game is more to your liking? Either way, this is the option for you! This is the time period for anything before the first game.

BS/TLA Era: Or, perhaps you'd like to thread during the quest itself? Maybe your characters have difficulty passing through silk road, or find themselves impeded by an active volcano, or even take part in the plot itself! This option is for if you'd like to thread during the time period of the first two games (or shortly after)!

Post BS/TLA Era: After the rise of the Golden Sun, new empires and cities start forming. New species are discovered, and Alchemy spreads. Amid this rapidly changing landscape (and flurry of natural disasters), what will your character do? This is the time period for anything post TLA, but before DD.

DD Era: With the rise of Alchemy came many more problems, the Psynergy vortexes and threat of the Tuaparang among them. Will your character combat these threats? How will your character react to the revelation of light and dark adepts? For anything within the DD-Era, this is your time period!

AU Settings

How big or small the AU will be is up to you! Perhaps your character was born and raised on the land of Weyard in one of the four tribes, or perhaps they only discovered their powers recently! Perhaps they only recently woke up on the land of Weyard, confused as to where they are. At any rate, please have fun making your AU!

Saturos is open in canon flavor for relatively shortly pre-BS and BS timelines, and AU flavored for everything. (And yes, the AUs listed in Menardi's bit above count.) Go for it! [thumbs up]

"Oh, my head," Sheena muttered as she slowly awoke without opening her eyes. And she kept them that way for several moments as the light behind her lids didn't help the pain throbbing back and forth in her skull. Feeling the cool grass beneath her, she stayed there a moment, relishing the chill before realizing what that meant.

Grass. She was laying on grass. And there was a breeze. And a sun. But was it real? Or was she somehow still in that damnable tower and everything that had happened had been a dream? And if so, what about her friends?

Bolting upright, she looked around, calling for them. "Colette? Zelos? Are you two here? Colette?! Zelos?!" Her voice rose as she did to get a better look at her surroundings and start searching. Wherever she was, it sure as hell wasn't the tower, and a bubble of joy began to well up as she realized that she was home.

Until she saw an animal she had never seen before scurry out of her way, causing her to freeze in her tracks. This wasn't home, either.
