[Well, doesn't this sight look familiar?]
[A white-haired man here, laying in the middle of the grass looking as if he's asleep. Or passed out from exhaustion. Only the rare stir of the shoulders or twitching of his eyelids would indicate he's even alive at a glance.]
[Pass by him, maybe?]

[Despite how long she had lived there, Robin didn't ever see herself getting fully used to life in the castle. Thankfully, things were peacefully enough now that nobody got upset if she went out on her own for an hour or two (or at least, nobody noticed enough to be upset).]
[As she makes her way through the fields, she sees something odd. What appears to be a black lump at a distance is actually a person, asleep in the grass. Well, isn't that familiar!]
[She takes a good look at the other figure, and eventually ascertains that he's alive. However, not feeling as predisposed as her husband to leaving herself open to being attacked by strangers sleeping on the ground, she'll opt to grab a small rock nearby instead and throw it towards the stranger. It's small enough to wake them up, she hopes, but not large enough to cause lasting damage.]
[...Probably.]

... Mrph!?
[Robin scrambles feeling something slam against his face. Struggling to open his eyes, he instinctively brings his hand to take whatever it was. It felt rough and jagged like a... rock. Did someone just throw a rock at him?]
[Well, that's one way to wake a man up... But why was he sleeping here? Where was he? And who threw this rock?]
[Robin lifted his back from the grass, it took more effort than he expected and even more than that to open his eyes all the way. It would take a moment for his eyes to adjust to the light, but for now there's a very confused, sun blind man looking around for someone.]

[Robin was still keeping her distance, but now that the stranger was up, she could get a better look at him.]
[Something about him put her ill at ease, like he wasn't supposed to be here, but Robin couldn't put her finger on why she felt that way. There was his coat, for starters, she supposed; it was both eerily similar to her own, and covered with marks from Plegia. Of course, her coat had been bought and not handmade, so it shouldn't be strange to see somebody else wearing it, and yet...]
[Still, he appeared to be looking for someone, probably the someone who had thrown the rock. He didn't seem dangerous, not yet at least, so there was no harm in calling out to him.]
Do you have some business here?
[Perhaps it's Frederick rubbing off on her, but better safe than sorry.]

[By now, his eyes were used to the light and firmly fixed on this woman. That answered one question of who threw that. Rude.]
[Robin felt a negative pressure in his chest looking at her. Not just because of her defensive stance and expression, though that definitely influenced it. It was something he couldn't pin point.]
Ah, no. Or rather...
[What he had to do now was figure out what happened. At least something like this happened before so he had an idea of how to talk it out. Now, whether or not that was a good thing... Thankfully this time he remembered what he was doing before his... nap. And his name. He pushed his hands against the grass and slowly brought his body to stand, taking care not to move too suddenly.]
Excuse me. I was on my way to Ylisstol, but I suppose I passed out here. Would you mind telling me where I am now?

[Right, manners were never his forte, but he should probably give her his name just so they're on even ground. He wouldn't be surprised if she's heard of him, but even so there's people around who haven't heard the infamous legends of Yuri Lowell, and he kind of likes it that way.]
Yuri, Yuri Lowell.
[But her response elicits a moment of unguarded apprehension on his face before turning back into his usual countenance. Aurnion is brand new, but he's still going to give her a bit of the benefit of the doubt before he starts questioning her hardcore.]
And yeah, Aurnion really doesn't have much of a history yet. Just got built thanks to people in both the Union and Empire working together. In a sense, it's like a neutral city, and sure hope it stays that way. Who knows how much we needed one...
[But now they've arrived, the people working hard still to continue building the city. However market places are slowly setting up (thanks to Fortune's Market) as well as more lodging. There's no bickering and there's an obvious sense of camaraderie amongst the people despite the fact that anyone could see that the people are of different views and different ranks. In a sense, it's truly a city of hope.]

[Robin crossed her arms and sighed. This was certainly an interesting conundrum. One the one hand, Robin didn't feel like the man was a danger, but on the other, there was something about this encounter that unsettled her.]
[Still, there didn't seem to be much harm in helping him for the time being. If worse came to worse, she could defend herself well enough.]
You're not very far; these are the fields just outside of the city.
[And she waits. He had to be here for something.]

The twilight hours had always been the time of day when Ellie did her best work. Whether it was executing a stealth attack or prowling to gather information, she was always more awake and alert. Ideas came more easily to mind, as well, which was why she was bent over her desk studiously sketching out the layout of the cave as best as she could recall.
Maybe it was because it was quiet, and easier to concentrate. Maybe it was because most people chose to be asleep, instead of bothering her with trivial complaints.
Needless to say, only one other person had the key to her personal chambers, and that was more of a precaution than anything. She preferred to be left alone when she was working, not only because it helped her concentrate, but because she didn't have to fret about someone sneaking past the guards to slip inside and assassinate her. She'd placed her room in the middle of the brigand's fortress for a reason: no windows, no entry, save for the locked door and a few magical traps and enchantments set up by Ales and Anise.
Zelos had the passwords necessary to bypass these traps, and the key to get inside should he ever have the need.
Or if he was just bored. She'd never outright said he could visit whenever he wished, but surely he knew by now that she didn't object to his company. After all they'd been through, he'd managed to earn her trust both on and off the battlefield.
She sat on the edge of her chair, absently rubbing her fingers over her forehead as she leaned over her crude map. There had been signs of a goblin warren to the right, and a fairly big one at that, so she marked it in kind. It hadn't seemed worth exploring at the time, since their quarry would be up to his neck in trouble if the goblins knew he'd invaded their territory.
The lantern was starting to sputter. Ellie realized her eyes were starting to strain in the slowly dimming darkness, so she got up to add more oil to the lantern. A warm glow spilled across the finely woven carpets laid out on the wooden floor, as well as the pile of furs she used for her bed. Trophies of the monsters she'd slain were hung on the walls, a proud reminder of the creatures she'd managed to fell. The fireplace had been allowed to die, holding nothing more than a few glowing embers now. She would sleep soon, once she'd finished a couple more pages.

To say that Zelos and sleep were friends would be an understatement. Zelos and sleep were acquaintances at best, insofar that sleep was the kind of acquaintance he would probably sneak out a window to avoid at a party.
Still, there was only so much he could do in the house without getting bored, and despite appearances, he actually liked to take care not to wake up the other house residents. Mostly, it was because he didn't want to be bothered to explain why he stayed up so late.
He was used enough to working without sleep that he had very little trouble slipping through all of the traps that Ellie had set around the fortress. Of course, his motives for coming here weren't entirely altruistic, but they weren't entirely selfish either. In a weird way, it benefited both of them.
Or, it probably would have if he did anything other than act like his jackass self. He entered rather nonchalantly and sat down on the nearest thing approximating a chair he could find. Personal space? Boundaries? What are those?
"Hey beautiful, shouldn't you be in bed?" He dug himself in deeper with every word. "Women need their beauty sleep, y'know."

"Are you giving me advice about sleeping when you look to have missed a few days yourself? You give me doubts about your credibility," she remarked dryly, sealing the vial of oil as she straightened. Ellie looked back at him over her shoulder where he made himself perfectly at home, and allowed herself a faint but genuine smile. Perhaps she could use a small break from map-making, before she wound up giving herself a headache.
She shot a brief glance at the door to ensure that he'd locked it, before slipping off the brunette wig and placing it on the coat rack. It didn't make for comfortable sleeping, and wearing it too long made her scalp itch. But as no one else would be opening that door until one of them was ready to leave, there was no need to keep up the disguise as The Brigand Leader.
She sat on the oak chest beside him, stretching out her legs and crossing her ankles. "What brings you here this evening, hm? Is sleep eluding you, or do you simply grow lonely?"

"With a face this beautiful, who needs sleep?" He winked as he replied. Everyone needed sleep, and this was a fact that did not allude Zelos Wilder. Still, that did not help his problem of not actually getting any.
He certainly understood the significance of her being willing to remove the wig, even if being trusted was never a feeling that he'd get used to. If anything, his attitude showed it.
"Hey, can't a man visit his favorite hunny without needing a reason?"

Ellie's expression went slack and she feigned a shudder to show her disgust for that word. Even the way it was spelled, once she saw him write it out! She haaaaaaaaaaaated it.
"Please tell me you are joking," she glowered at him. Of course he was, she knew, but she enjoyed the banter just the same.
More importantly, he was dodging the question. Was he truly not sleeping well? She studied his face carefully to see if she could peer beneath the mask he wore so habitually. He was indeed a handsome man, she wouldn't dream of denying that. But there was a great deal he hid beneath the surface, things even she didn't know about just yet.
Ellie nodded at the pile of furs. "If you are tired, you may rest here. I will watch over you, so that you are undisturbed."

Zelos shrugged his shoulders in response. Was he joking? Entirely, and it was a joke that even she was in on.
Still, it's her turn to make him uncomfortable, and she was doing that in spades. There were few things that Zelos Wilder truly disliked, but other people worrying about him was at the top of the list. There was only one thing he could do at this point, and that was to try and shift the topic of conversation as quickly as he could.
"Whoa! I hadn't pegged you as the fast-moving type."
It would have been much more convincing as a troll attempt if Zelos had managed to wink instead of yawn.

"It comes with the line of work," she shot back...even if she was more of the not-moving-at-all type. Romance and affection weren't the sorts of things she could afford to have, when it would serve as a prime opportunity to slit her throat in her sleep, or to have a knife thrust into her back. A brigand leader who didn't have a healthy sense of paranoia wouldn't live long.
But here, where death meant little, it was something that could work in her favor. Allowing an assassination attempt to work, while asking Zelos to keep tabs on those who were loyal and those who were not, had been an incredibly favorable tactical move. It gave her a better sense of who she could trust on missions to make alliance and recruit more followers, and her return from the 'dead' scared most of the rest into strict obedience.
What she didn't expect was that it would cause a sense of warmth to grow for Zelos. He had no designs to take over the brigands himself. In fact, she was sure that was the last thing he wanted. Ellie had no illusions that he was here solely because of her. More, she figured it was because this was a place where he didn't have to wear as many facades.
She studied his face curiously, and when he yawned, it drew a little quirk of a smile from her. He trusted her too, didn't he?
"You are a curious person," she remarked. "I wonder if you say these things to test whether or not you might be rejected." A hint of mischief glittered in her dark blue eyes as she shifted her weight to lean closer to him. "What will you do if it creates an opposite effect, hm?"

There was a moment, very subtlety, where Zelos flinched. There were many things he didn't feel comfortable revealing about himself, and even more he didn't feel comfortable having people know. Her last comment had hit dead on every one of them.
Still, he knew who he was, and he knew what he was, so he would compose and control himself. 'Control' being a relative term, since it was when he was the most collected that he acted the most asinine. He responded with the most relaxed and laissez-faire expression that he could, even if he was now starting to feel on edge.
"Hey, babe, I have no idea what you're talking about. I say these things because they work, I mean, who could resist this?"
Whatever effect he meant to have with the last word, it's dampened by another yawn. Damn he was starting to actually feel tired.

"Perhaps I have no wish to reject you," she drawled, allowing her gaze to travel slowly down, then up again, as if she were sizing up her chances. She scooted herself closer, her hip nudged against his hip, and she leaned her shoulder into his with a sly smile. "I think you wouldn't know what to do with me if I were to embrace you, instead of push you away."
Her face was closer to his, and moving closer still, until he could just barely feel the whisper of her breath against his skin.
Then her finger pressed into his forehead, gently, and pushed back. "You are dead on your feet. Go. Sleep. Otherwise I will seduce you and push you further out of your comfort zone." Ellie smirked and rose to her feet, arching her back to work out the kinks. This was a nice distraction, but there was still a map that needed to be made. Perhaps hearing him sleep deeply and evenly would keep her relaxed as well. A man like him, who would show weariness and weakness in front of her, was all the evidence she needed to know that he trusted her. He didn't need to pour his feelings on the floor or expose his heart. The little signs were enough.

Despite everything else, it's not hard for Zelos to notice that Raine is actually a little older than he remembers. He's not sure he buys the whole 'been here awhile' thing, but there's a good chance that she isn't lying, either.
Still, despite the time that had apparently passed (for her, anyway), he'd expected more of a reaction. He certainly hadn't expected her to ask what the last thing he remembered was; that almost felt like pouring salt on the wound.
It's definitely not something he's going to talk about, and so in response to her question, he simply shrugs before replying nonchalantly.
"Dunno. Guess this whole time-space travel thing really messes with your head, doesn't it?" That and being dead. Mostly being dead.

Dunno. Yes, Zelos is definitely hiding something important. "Not typically, no," Raine says levelly, folding her free arm across her chest. She doesn't look entirely impressed.
"The last thing I remember is the Tree," she adds after a moment, offering something of her own since she's not quite sure what else to do. "We had managed to germinate the Seed, and then I was here." Her eyes are sharp, though: she isn't lingering in the recollection of a victory, but watching for Zelos' reaction.
"Are you seriously hurt?" She can't quite tell from here, but that's also something she should probably handle-- though she can't fathom why he wouldn't have healed himself. Still, some of that blood looks fresh.

Shit, of all the people for him to run into, it had to be Raine. Her bullshit detector was better than anybody else in the party (barring Kratos, but he'd probably just give him a good sock in the jaw), and he wasn't in top form.
He had to take a moment to collect himself. For Zelos, that in and of itself was a dead giveaway. Aside from trying to calm himself down, it's taking him a moment to connect the dots. Everyone else had definitely managed to do something, alright.
"The tree, huh? Don't think I made it there."
He shrugged his shoulders. Definitely hiding something, alright.
"The great Zelos Wilder? Seriously hurt? Don't worry babe, I've had much worse than this."
Finally able to work a bit of his jovial personality back into it, it still sounds somewhat forced. The wincing didn't help.

"But you don't remember where you did make it." Raine's still frowning. She supposes that might be plausible -- the Tree would be rather hard to forget, while other events might be easily overwritten by confusion -- but this is Zelos, and something is nagging at her as wrong.
After a moment she shakes her head, concentrates. A white circle spins briefly beneath her feet as she casts. "First Aid. It's possible," she continues, as if nothing has happened, "that we're from two different points in time. Certainly, I don't recall every wound everyone received on the journey, but the last time I saw you, you didn't look quite like this. I had enough mana left to patch everyone up, after the last battle with Mithos." She's still watching Zelos, trying to see what gets more reaction out of him, if anything.

[Everyone was celebrating. It seemed like the plan was a success... well, the plan to stop Van's plan was, at least. And after a few days of traveling to get everything settled, it looked like Anise would finally be coming back to Daath. Of course, little did she know there was someone else waiting for her. Someone she wouldn't be expecting.]
[After carrying her battered body away from the Cheagle Woods, Largo was shocked to find that Arietta was still alive. What could he do? Leave her there to be given a final blow and steal her last breath? Maybe it was what she would have wanted in the event of a loss, but... he couldn't do it. And so, begging her forgiveness, he brought her to a healer to be saved. But where could she go now, who would look after her? Weighing his options, he chose the only people he could think who would selflessly take in a damaged and dangerous child like Arietta: the Tatlins. Sure, there was the possibility of her crossing paths with that replica of the Fon Master they'd taken in, but with her health in such a precarious state, chances are she wouldn't be getting out a bed any time soon.]
[There's no fanfare when Anise arrives. They couldn't have known exactly what day she would be back -- or maybe she wanted to surprise everyone? Either way, when she makes her way into the cathedral and heads to her parent's room, rather than the familiar sight of her mother and father... she'll be greeted by the sight of a bandaged and wounded Arietta, staring back at Anise with wide eyes.]
A... Anise?

A... Anise?
[Anise had wanted to get back home almost as soon as they beat Van, she really had, but there were enough things to take care of that the party's return trip had been delayed a couple of days.]
[Once the Albiore actually lands in Daath, she bounds off, running all the way up to her parents' apartment. There was a lot weighing on her mind, but she was too excited to see Florian (and her parents) to care at the moment. After practically jumping up the last few stairs, she swings open the door, the sound reverberating through the next three or four rooms.]
Papa! Mama! Florian! I'm ho---
[Only to stop mid-sentence, because of all the people she expected to see, the person laying in bed wasn't one of them.]
A-arietta!?

[Arietta hasn't had too much time to think about what she would say to Anise when she saw her again. Because of course she would -- she was here, sitting in Anise's parent's room and being cared for by them while she recovered. It was inevitable. But even if that weren't the case, she knew as long as she lived, she'd have to deal with Anise sooner or later.]
[Quickly, she sits up -- but just as quickly regrets it, a hand moving up to her stomach before she winces, falling back on one of her elbows.]
S-So... you're finally back now.

[There are a lot of things that are going through Anise's head as she tries to process this. Among other things: where's Florian? Where are her parents? How did Arietta survive? Is she dreaming? Did she die in the fight with Van? And with the flurry of questions also comes another flurry of emotions.]
[But the questions were probably more important at the moment. She makes sure she has a hand on Tokunaga in case it comes to a fight, but looking at Arietta, it didn't appear that she'd be getting up any time soon.]
Yeah, I am back. What are you doing here?
